MTN Rwanda Partners with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation to release Affordable Smart Phones

MTN Rwanda, in collaboration with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, is thrilled to introduce the IKOSORA+, an affordable 4G-enabled smartphone, as part of the Connect Rwanda 2.0 initiative in Nyakarambi Sector, Kirehe District.

Following the success of Connect Rwanda 1.0, which provided smartphones to over 26,599 beneficiaries nationwide, Connect Rwanda 2.0 aims to increase smartphone accessibility further. The launch of IKOSORA+ reinforces this objective by addressing the need for affordable smartphones, thus narrowing the digital gap and enhancing connectivity.

During the launch event in Kirehe District, Honourable Minister Paula Ingabire commended MTN Rwanda for their contribution to the #ConnectRwanda 2.0 initiative. She emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to fostering inclusive broadband access and ensuring cost-effective internet solutions for all citizens.

The introduction of IKOSORA+ unlocks numerous opportunities by granting individuals access to the internet and various digital services, thereby promoting their participation in the digital economy.

Mapula Bodibe, CEO of MTN Rwanda, expressed excitement about the launch, stating that the IKOSORA+ underscores their belief in providing modern, connected lifestyles for everyone. By addressing the affordability barrier to 4G connectivity, this initiative aims to empower Rwandans and enrich their lives through connectivity, learning, and business opportunities.

Bodibe highlighted MTN’s commitment to delivering top-notch digital solutions, ensuring upgraded features and fast internet speeds for customers. The IKOSORA+ runs on Android S Go edition, offering a seamless user experience with its vibrant 5.0-inch display, dual cameras, ample storage, and long battery life.

Priced at just Rwf 20,000, the IKOSORA+ is available nationwide at all MTN service centers and connect shops. Customers will enjoy an exclusive bonus package, including 1GB of daily data, 100 minutes of voice, and 100 SMS for 30 days at only Rwf 1,000. This bundle offer is valid for 12 months and can be recharged upon expiration.
