As the date for International Women’s Day draws closer, Women Techmakers Kigali, an arm of Google Developers organization focusing on advancing women in tech, releases the List of Speakers for Google IWD Kigali 2024.

This event is an annual campaign focusing on the impact of women in the tech space; this year’s edition is titled “Impact the Future.” and will be held on the 9th of March 2024 at Carnegie Mellon University Africa, Regional ICT Center of Excellence Bldg Plot No A8, Kigali Special Economic Zone Phase II, Kigali, Rwanda.

  • Paula Ingabire

Paula is the Minister of ICT and Innovation in Rwanda; she is a technology professional and politician. She graduated from the University of Rwanda with a Bachelor’s degree and obtained a Master of Science degree in Engineering and Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); she is also a Systems Design & Management Fellow at MIT and will be speaking at the Google IWD 2024 as a Keynote speaker.

  • Arlette Munezero

Arlette is the Head of Information at the Bank of Kigali; she has over 13 years of experience in information technology and a record of accomplishment in strategy and IT operation management, project management, systems deployment, and policy development.

  • Christian Kajeneri

Christian is the Director of Payment Systems at the National Bank of Rwanda; he was also formerly the Head of Fintech Strategy, Products, and Services at Mobile Money Rwanda; he is passionate about fintech and revolutionizing how we transact. 

  • Christine Niyizamwiyitira

Christine is a Scholar in Residence at the Lead EdTech Program, CMU-Africa; she has 11 years of teaching and research experience and was formerly a lecturer at the University of Rwanda. She has a Ph.D. in computer systems engineering from the Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden and a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Korea University of Technology and Education in South Korea and the National University of Rwanda.

  • Solange Iyubu

Solange is a software developer at QT Global Software and the founder of URWEJO Tech Hub, a hub for mentoring and teaching by using material and space to activate the natural learning behavior of children.

  • Prof. Conrad Tucker

Prof. Conrad is the director of CMU-Africa and Associate Dean for International Affairs-Africa. He is also a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, Rwanda. 

  • Nirel Kadzo

Nirel is an Engineering Artificial Intelligence specialist at CMU-Africa. She is passionate about improving the livelihoods of Africa’s rural communities. She will speak on Behaviour Analysis with DeepLabCut at Google Developers IWD 2024, Kigali.

  • Jean Salvi D

Jean Salvi is an artificial intelligence and machine learning engineer interested in learning, thinking, understanding, and reasoning and how to get them to happen in computers. He has a Bachelor’s in Computer Software Engineering from the Adventist University of Central Africa. He will speak on unlocking AI’s potential with search, optimization, and planning algorithms.

  • Tsion Girma Assefa

Tsion Girma is an Associate Data Scientist at World Data Lab; she was also a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University Africa in 2022. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Electrical and Computer Engineering from Addis Ababa University and a Master of Science in Machine Learning and Data Science from Carnegie Mellon University Africa.

  • Jacques Nyilinkindi

Jacques is the head of Software Development at Bouletteproof, an AI-powered tool for rapid lead gen analysis, fueling data-backed decisions & business expansion. He is passionate of data and how it can be used to impact lives. He will speak on the cookie revolution and AI agents and how to rewrite digital tracking rules.
